The story chronicles their effortless interrelations and later exposes the testing of their deep bonds. It introduces the reader to an array of supporting characters who alter the boys’ lives forever.

The Urban Boys offers young and mature readers central themes of loyalty, responsibility, honesty, fear, and triumph, which become artfully integrated with cinematic-level action and high drama. The story twists, turns, and grinds through elements of paranormal and action-adventure in a diverse, exciting, edge-of-your-seat narrative!

Overview:

The story’s small town of Danville Heights, a carefully crafted universe, contrasts with the dark, gloomy town of Sandry Lake, where evil abounds. Upon the boys’ mysterious incident with the energy source, they’re instinctively called to Sandry Lake to root out evil. Their senses guide them each time. However, secrecy about their mission, furious battles with evil thugs, extreme fatigue, and stress and pressure soon overwhelm the boys, but they must find a way to embrace their fate. A lurking, Dark Stranger seems to know their plight, and a strikingly beautiful, fearless girl lends way to heightened confusion. Shocking details about these two characters, and the evil antagonist, the dreaded Druth, twist and grind the story even further. Despite tension and fierce battles, will the boys hold it together long enough to fulfill their destiny?

Excerpt:

Somehow alluding to perfect conditions, the tick-tocking of the clock, the dark night, and the creaking, cracked, loose boards under foot paved way for the boys as they returned to Sandry Lake. Making their way up a dark, damp boat ramp, they sensed a band of thugs nearby. Attempting to break into a private boating area, the ruffians spewed ghoulish chit-chatter in the spirit of their leader.

Meanwhile, the boys signaled to each other to spread out and surround them. A combination of tip-toeing prowess and unspoken sheer will allowed the boys to move in sync. Jordan felt the evil energy of the thugs, hearing their articulated mayhem.

“Let’s prove to him what we can do,” said a big, ugly hooligan. “Pull the lock off with your teeth and take whatever’s inside. He will grant much favor.”

Their wayward, misguided ramblings revealed to the boys just how low these thugs would go. They collectively sized up the big one, for if he was in charge of this group they would need to take him down strategically. They waited for the right time to strike, and when they did, the night grew darker.

Chase made the first move rushing one of the thugs, and with his right leg he swept him backward and sideways afloat causing him to crash to the ground landing on his back. Dust and debris covered the scene as Alex moved in carrying a garbage can lid that he wrapped around the thug’s head. Nearby, Jordan sat atop another one repeatedly punching him in the head. When two more saw Jordan’s own style of viciousness, they ran away. The boys temporarily lost sight of them, but Kinsu ran in their direction.

Chase, Alex, and Rhee drew near each other. They surveyed the scene and launched a coordinated attack upon several more thugs who were advancing toward them with weapons in their hands. Their martial arts excellence could not be denied as kicking, punching, and blocking moved to new levels. With an inherent need to clear things out, they charged forward to finish their business in anticipation of getting to the big one. With his nasty teeth and matted hair, he stood by ordering the others to get the boys as he fashioned a sharp weapon out of nearby scrap metal and loose jute rope.
